Top Performer Once More - Raffles leads the way in the 2010 GCE A Level Examinations
A total of 1185 students at RI sat for the 2010 'A' Level Examinations - the largest of all JC cohorts. This is the second cohort to go through the entire six-year Raffles Programme (RP), the through-train programme offered by RI and Raffles Girls' School. It is also the fourth cohort of students offering the revised 'A' level curriculum introduced in 2006.
Outstanding Achievements for Class of 2010
The class of 2010 posted yet another outstanding performance in the 2010 'A' Level Examinations. 509 students (43%) scored 4 distinctions in the content-based subjects, and 780 students (66%) scored at least 3 distinctions in the content-based subjects.
In addition, 53% of students scored distinctions in the General Paper, compared to 49% in 2009, while a record-breaking 72% of students scored distinctions in Knowledge and Inquiry.
28% achieved perfect University Admission Points of 90. The University Admission Score is computed based on a maximum score of 90 points, and takes into account General Paper or Knowledge and Inquiry, Project Work, 3 H2 and 1 H1 content subjects.
The class of 2010 surpassed the previous cohort with 130 students (11%) scoring distinctions in all subjects offered, compared to 9.7% in 2009.
A new record was also set for H3 subjects, with 1 in 2 out of 413 candidates scoring distinctions.
Performance of Individual H2 Subjects
The class of 2010 outperformed their peers with exceptional performances across the various subjects.
9 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Malay Language and Literature.
8 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Physics, English Literature and French.
7 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, German, Knowledge & Inquiry, and Tamil Language & Literature.
