学习奥数意义何在? 奥数培训能够帮助学生提高逻辑思维能力和多角度解答问题的能力。毋庸多言,奥数学习自然会提高学生小4至小6阶段数学成绩。另一个重要原因是奥数成绩可以是学生通向顶尖学校DSA招生的敲门砖。尤其是对于一些没有机会进入GEP项目,但是在小学后半段开始发力,特别是在数学学科有潜力和兴趣的学生,奥数竞赛奖牌是学生个人能力的有力证明,若能争取到名校IP项目名额,学生也会降低PSLE考试分数的压力。

Teaching goals: 1) improve student's exam result 2) culture student's interests in maths subject. 3) widen the student's logical thinking ability.
Teaching method: based on the Singapore A-level maths Syllabus to build solid foundation for the student, then improve the student's overall understanding by getting deep to the principles, and further challenge the students with harder questions.
Two common mis-concepts of JC students during my teaching: 1) just memorize the equations and methods, can already! Comment: Memorize of course is important no matter what subject we are talking about. But maths has very strong internal logic and reasoning. Also, the exam questions could be very flexible and vary in different formats. If you understand the fundamentals, complicated questions will be much easier for you!
2) There's only one correct way of solving the question, it must be solved in this way. Comment: not necessary. Sometimes there could be alternative methods as well! That's the beautify of maths. For example, complex number problem can be transformed to vectors to solve. Student should open their mind and should be encouraged to explore variety of ways to solve a challenging question. This can also help them a lot to handle other challenges in their life. |
