4justice，您问的每个问题，您自己都已经给出答案了，呵呵。。。

老实说，按您的要求，很难给出准确答案的。您说，会哪个不知好歹的父母，敢每天去问，在不同小学就读的孩子爹妈，您孩子今天留作业了么？留得都是什么作业呢？英文的？数学的？华文的？  完全横向的比较，我是不敢，也没时间，和精力去做啊~~~

当然，我不算是个教育达人哈，呵呵。。。

名校究竟好在哪里，答案是多方面的，软实力，硬实力等等，是个综合素质。

我自己感触最深的是，南小的老师，和家长之间的沟通，是非常良好，及时的。

下面我贴一个最新的老师给家长的课程说明。我不知道其它学校，这方面是怎样做的，算是我抛砖引玉吧。。。

Unit 11: I want my mum!

Dear Parents,

We began on a new book entitled 'I want my mum!' today. This story is about a young snake, Jake, who thought that his mother went away and left him alone. He went up and down a hill, came to a corner, climbed up a ladder, went over a bridge and in and out of a tunnel before he found his mother.

We will be focusing on Prepositions and 'said' words. You may wish to ask your child how did Jake ask for his mother. (i.e. hissed, cried, shouted,yelled and sobbed)

We discussed the following in class and these words and phrases were shared by the children:

• Differences between a hill and a mountain: size, steep
• Snakes: shedding of scales (ecdysis), reptile, lay eggs
• Bridges: an (elevation) between two points, through
  

(I have added some words within the brackets on the blog so that you may extend their vocabulary when you talk about the story.)

Please note that WS 1 has to be completed by next Wednesday (6 Jul). Thank you!

Maths: Numbers to One Hundred

• Revised the importance of making tens when counting
• Revised how to count a group of objects by categorising into tens and ones
• Counted in tens
• Identified that 1 ten = 10, 2 tens = twenty = 20, 3 tens = thirty = 30 up to 100.
• Learnt that from 21 to 99, we need to place a hyphen in between the tens and ones when writing in words. Please note that failure to do so does cost precious marks during tests and exams.
• The children identified the similarity between the written form from twenty to ninety: The words end with 'ty'.
  

Please note that they have to be extremely familiar with the spelling from one to twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety and one hundred. They will be tested on the spelling of the above list next Monday

这样的信息，几乎每天给家长们更新，Email，也是当天就有回音的。如果需要详细说明，而老师当天没有大块时间的话，也会先简单回复个说明，之后，会给你认真，仔细的长长的EMAIL~~~

我真的十分感动，感恩老师们的辛勤，与努力。。。

名校的学习资料编得好一些，比如有关科学的note, 作文、口试材料。。数学题归类总结。。cca 活动也更丰富些，因为有很多义工家长吧。

They have a very comprehensive range of enrichment courses to supplement the core curriculum, and they have a huge range of approved vendors that have worked with them over the years to make the provision of enrichment courses very seamless. 不知这里是否有名校的家长能否证实这条。

是的，老师们这么努力地付出，家长们理当倾力回报啊。。。

不只是CCA活动丰富，就是日常教学，也有很多活动辅助教学内容的。比如：英文在学习hungry giant时，全部小一的英文老师，就举办学生自己动手做三明治的。数学，华文都有类似的教学辅助活动。

家长们也是非常积极配合老师们教学的，家长们拿自己的年假，去学校做义工（包括我自己），动作慢的话，都报不上名的。

老师给家长们的信息，是学校要求的，每个班都有的。当然，有的老师给出的会比较详尽，有的老师会简单些。

我想，学校这样做的目的，应该是寻求的是家长的配合。让家长清楚地知道，老师的要求，双方努力的方向一致，发挥1+1 〉2 的功效吧。。。

关于这个话题，觉得没什么实际讨论意义。
进去所谓的名校，能享用点免费资源是好的。但统治阶层的利益是不容侵犯的。对咱们这种外来者，要进看点运气吧！
进了邻里，也没什么，其实P4以下，各个学校的资源相差不了多少的。
到了P5P6，每个学校为了保住PSLE的排名，会有些动作。
有高才班的学校，题库会比较大，难度会比较深。在分数点上会保持比较高的优势。

关键是看孩子的资质，孩子资质好，不必担心。

南洋的P1还没有分班，不用说肯定是全民教育。等到分了班，就有区别了。
我看南洋P5的普通班的孩子，不比类似淡宾尼培青小学这类很有实力的邻里小学前面几个班的孩子强。
但那个傲气，一脸的不屑，比较麻烦。PSLE考不好，进不了名校，也不知会有什么造化了。

我女儿读的邻里小学，算是区里比较好的小学吧，他们上学期学英文课THE GIANT‘S ICE CREAM时搞了个ICE CREAM PARTY，每个孩子都有雪糕吃，过后要写一篇文章关于这个PARTY。学校组织不少补习班也是义工妈妈来教，现在我女儿每周五有MATHS MOM，她说她的那个MOM是最漂亮那个。常常在大街上指着某个家庭主妇和我说是老师，我猜也是义工妈妈吧。邻里小学也会有不少活动，也会有很多义工。

南洋小学是几年级开始分班？怎么个分法？除了GEP班，还有好班吗？几个GEP，几个好班，几个普通班？
我一个本地朋友的孩子在莱佛士小学，她说莱佛士是除了GEP班就只有普通班，所以她要努力PUSH她女儿进GEP。南洋是不是也这样啊?
